Gas Processing
Energy recovery is not limited to the water and desalination industries. The High Pressure TurboCharger is designed for gas processing applications.
Designed specifically for hydraulic energy recovery, the High Pressure TurboCharger addresses the major issues facing the gas processing designer and user including design simplicity, efficiency, reliability, maintainability, ease of field repair, and versatility.
The High Pressure TurboCharger takes the rich amine stream from the contactor and depressurizes it with a high-speed hydraulic turbine. This turbine replaces the pressure throttling normally done by the contactor's liquid level control valve. Attached to the turbine shaft is a single stage centrifugal pump impeller. The complete rotor is mounted entirely in a single casing, thereby eliminating costly, maintenance intensive shaft seals. The High Pressure TurboCharger is placed downstream of the high-pressure pump and boosts the pressure of the lean amine going into the contactor.
Pump Engineering Inc provides energy recovery turbochargers for seawater and brackish water reverse osmosis desalination and gas and hydro carbon processing. PEI's Hydraulic TurboCharger for sea water reverse osmosis, High Pressure TurboCharger for gas processing, and Low Pressure TurboCharger for brackish water reverse osmosis provide increased plant capacity, reduced capital costs, and obtain energy savings.
Energy recovery can be obtained for Sea Water Reverse Osmosis desalination systems through the use of the Hydraulic TurboCharger. The Reverse Osmosis Energy Savings Calculator in www.pumpengineering.com shows your yearly energy recovery with a HTC installed. Pump Engineering Inc patented technology is now available for brackish water and ultrapure water processing through the Low Pressure TurboCharger.
