Achieving and maintaining a sustainable balance between demand and use is one of the greatest challenges facing mankind. As one of the world's foremost water sector consultants, we advise private and public sector clients on every aspect of the water cycle from resource assessment, through water supply, to collection, treatment, disposal and re-use of water.
Flow Monitoring and Surveys
As well as the physical monitoring and reporting of water and wastewater infrastructure our computational fluid dynamics capability provides a sophisticated, state-of-the-art technique for detailed and accurate assessment of fluid flow. It provides a cost-effective method for testing and improving designs without the need for physical modelling. CFD has been applied to a range of applications including diffuser design and near field plume modelling, chlorine contact tanks and service reservoirs, CSO design, and channel and tank design.
Industrial Solutions
The purchase, treatment and disposal of water and waste are paramount to the everyday function of the industrial sector. However, this can be a costly process as there are many hidden costs associated with water usage.
We offer services and solutions to enable clients to recognise and minimise the total cost of water usage to their business. We add value by improving processes and reducing costs.
Hyder Consulting is able to offer its full range of water sector skills to meet the particular needs of industrial users such as on site water process management, design and construct solutions, and procurement, operations and maintenance advice.
Leakage Control
In addition to investigation services, we assist water sector clients to develop policies and strategies for reducing network leakage. Use of specialist software models enables us to develop the most economic technique for leakage control, involving measures such as setting up pilot areas and assisting in the creation of new metered areas.
Management Advisory
Thanks to our collective and individual experience as a former part of a water utility, we are well placed to provide organisational and operational support within the sector.
This support can take the form of technical assistance through projects such as strategic reviews and tariff studies, institutional strengthening, asset management planning and project and programme management. We have worked with organisations throughout the world in these capacities.
Modelling
Hyder Consulting undertakes a wide variety of modelling projects associated with sewerage and drainage design, water network analysis, process design, and the investigation of river, estuarine and coastal environment processes.
Network Analysis and Rehabilitation
Our wealth of experience in network modelling, combined with our in-house system for prioritising investment in mains systems, has been used extensively for identification, justification and design of mains rehabilitation schemes. Within this area, we assist clients by managing and supervising flow measurement and meter calibration surveys, pipeline CCTV surveys and pipeline condition assessments to assist in the selection of the most appropriate pipeline renovation or replacement method.
Odour Control
Hyder Consulting assists in the cost effective treatment of issues relating to odour in water and waste treatment facilities. The service comprises surveys, evaluation and the design of odour prevention facilities using the most appropriate techniques of which we have wide experience.
